A beautiful ridged red natural heart shaped piece of sea glass is meticulously hand crafted in fine (.999) and Sterling (.925) solid silver. The piece has been left just the way it was found on the beach and is set in a versatile necklace.
This amazing sea glass piece is the remnants of art glass scraps that were discarded into local waters in England. Colors in this range date back to the late 18th century when many art glass houses produced wares in the Tyne and Wear Region. Stunning sea glass gems like this now wash ashore over 100 years later. The ridging or lines on the sea glass piece indicate it was made into an end product (not just slag or cullet glass like many Seaham Sea Glass Pieces). Most likely this was destined to be a channel marker (red right return) or a warning signal lamp.
Natural Heart Shaped sea glass is also a rarity and this piece is just the way it was found and is UNALTERED. The sea glass varies in thickness and was extremely hard to set to this degree of perfection! (thickness varies from 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch).
