  • A close up of the sea glass used in this jewelry piece shows you it is GENUINE sea glass. The telltale "C"'s can only be created by glass aging naturally in the surf. Red sea glass from this region tends to have less pitting and is most likely from a harder glass material.

Product Description

This is a LARGE and ULTRA RARE perfect Amberina Red sea glass pendant is set in our Deluxe Wire Bezel© pendant setting with a genuine Garnet gem.

This is our Deluxe Wire design that leaves the glass UNALTERED from the way it was found on the beach. We bumped this up yet another level by incorporating a genuine Garnet brilliant cut 6MM gem in a bezeled tube setting (This is a fine jewelry setting, not glued in but painstakingly burnished in solid sterling silver.

This is a found piece, shaped only by tide and time and most likely started out as a scrap art glass that is found on the shores of Seaham England and said to be the remnants of bottle and art glass factories from the 1800's.

The Solid Sterling Bail will accommodate a chain of 10MM wide. The pendant comes with a sterling plated rope chain (NOT shown) but if you are in need of a quality chain for this piece, we recommend our 18 Inch snake chain available in 2 thicknesses (shown in photograph with pendant is a 2mm chain).

This is a neat piece of sea glass with a embossed line on the front. As most red Seaham Sea Glass, this piece has marking or patterns indicating it was first made into an end object then discarded. Red glass is very expensive to make as it incorporates gold to turn the glass red. The hope diamond of sea glass and very coveted with collectors the world over.

Amberina is the name given to a type of glass with gradient color that starts out red at the top of the piece and changes to amber at the bottom. Variations in hue range from lighter shades that look almost pastel pink and yellow to rich, deep tones of ruby red and amber.

A number of different companies manufactured this type of glass beginning in the late 1800s and continuing into the early 20th century.
