Rise in Prices of Sterling Silver in our Jewelry

A Note About Our Jewelry Prices
Over the years, I have always tried to keep a good selection of affordable sea glass jewelry available. Unfortunately, the rising cost of sterling silver and quality jewelry components has made it necessary to raise some of our prices.
When I started in business, sterling silver was around $7.00. Just two months ago, it went over $110, and today it is still around $58. That kind of increase has a big impact on the cost of making jewelry.
Components that used to cost us less than $10 are now often in the $30–$60 range. Settings that we make from scratch, which once cost under $20, can now cost closer to $50. Pieces we were once able to offer for $20 or $30 may now need to be priced at twice that amount, even for some of our simpler designs.

One thing I am not willing to do is lower the quality of the materials we use. We continue to use the best quality ear wires, rings, clasps, chains, settings, and other components because those details matter. I will not comprimise the work by using substandard components.
When comparing our jewelry with other sea glass jewelry companies and artists, take a close look at the details. Look at the chains, the findings, how pieces are attached, and how the jewelry is constructed. These small details can make a big difference in quality and durability.
I realize that jewelry is not a necessity of life, and I have always tried to offer pieces at a variety of price points. I will continue to do my best to have something available for different budgets while still maintaining the quality that has always been important to me.
Thank you for understanding, and thank you for continuing to support By The Sea Jewelry.
